Ivan Meade – Favourite Piece of Furniture

DC1615 STOOL/SIDE TABLE by Vincenzo de Cotiis

“My current favorite piece of furniture is the DC1615 STOOL/SIDE TABLE by Vincenzo de Cotiis (Italy) – I am usually attracted to pieces that are sculptural, unique in their design and that you can see an exceptional materiality and craftsmanship on them.  Pieces that are not just functional, but that add that a – je ne sais quoi -element to any space.  This particular piece doesn’t matter the side you see, it has a different visual perspective.  Its monolithic presence; it can stand alone wherever you want to place it; or it can be a complement to any room as a side table or stool.  Because its sculptural quality it’s a great piece to mix with antiques or any type of modern architecture.  The unique mix in the Italian marbles create a really strong contrast that gives a very sophisticated singularity to the piece.  The brass top adds shine playing with an interesting juxtaposition with all the materiality used on it.  I think it is a very sensual piece!” – Ivan Meade of Meade Design Group
